DESCRIPTION:The 2nd Annual EEYC Cardboard Boat Regatta\nGet Your Cardboard Boats Ready\nSaturday September 19th\n(Same day as the Fishing Committee STEAK DINNER) \nAllowed Materials;\n– Cardboard: Only corrugated cardboard is allowed. You can use any thickness.\n – Fasteners: Duct tape is the most common fastener. Water-based wood glue or hot glue is also acceptable.\n– Spray adhesive is acceptable between layers to laminate layers. Cannot be on exterior surfaces inside or outside as a sealant\n– Sealants: Water-soluble outdoor latex-based primer or paint can be used to make the boat water-resistant.\n– Decorations: You can use markers\, string\, or yarn. Decorations must not add structural strength. \nProhibited Materials:\n– Treated Cardboard: No wax-coated\, resin-coated\, or plastic-coated cardboard (like those used for shipping heavy boxes).\n– Flotation Aids: No Styrofoam\, wood\, metal\, plastic\, or inflatable pool toys are allowed.\n– Rigid Additions: Materials like fiberglass resin\, solid plastics\, or PVC pipes cannot be used to make the boat rigid.\n– Strong Adhesives: No two-part epoxies\, fiberglass resins\, or tar-based roof coatings. \nConstruction Rules:\n– Hull Limitations: The entire hull and seating area must be made of cardboard.\n– No Full Wraps or WATERPROOF Coatings: You cannot completely wrap the entire boat in plastic wrap\, duct tape\, or shrink wrap or coat with waterproof liquids like deck silicon. Tape should only be used to seal seams\, joints\, and edges.\n– Dimensions: No Size restrictions \nSafety and Racing Rules Safety Gear: All participants must wear a Coast Guard-approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD or life jacket) and safe footwear \nOpen to Inter-club club members \nSign-up sheet for Boat/Teams in the bar \nRules are subject to interpretation and final judgement by the Rear Commodore
