EAST END YACHT CLUB SUPPORTS THE 2016 SWIM ACROSS THE SOUND
The 2016 Swim Across the Sound Marathon took place on Saturday July 30 on Long Island Sound.
170 swimmers supported by over 90 swim boats with Captains and crew, law enforcement, and medical vessels, crossed the Sound from Port Jefferson N.Y. to Black Rock Harbor, in Connecticut.
Water conditions started out a bit choppy but settled down after awhile to provide the swimmers with good movement. The Swim ended slightly early because of storm conditions but despite the weather, some course records were set this year.
Six Captains from East End participated in this year’s Swim.
all donated their time and energy to make the Swim a success.
Bob piloted the “Spirit of the Sound” from the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium to give families and friends of the swimmers a close up view of the race.
Thanks to East End Yacht Club for their continued support of this wonderful event.
